“We are ambitious – Ewals Cargo Care and I”
At fifteen, Ron started working part-time in a tyre workshop. Later, he pursued a degree in Business Economics. Today, he combines the best of both worlds—he’s responsible for tyre maintenance across our entire trailer fleet and manages everything related to this domain throughout Europe. His growth ambition? To take full ownership of tyre management and lead his own team. “We are ambitious – Ewals Cargo Care and I”.
Career
Ron is someone who follows his heart. He thrived in the tyre workshop and, despite completing a demanding degree, spent fifteen years working as a tyre technician. “I love fixing things.” He joined ECC as a Fleet Maintenance Specialist. “We immediately knew we had a bigger plan together. That’s how Ewals Cargo Care works. What can you do, and what do you want to achieve? Put it on the table, and we’ll explore what we can achieve together. I love that.” His path took him from Repair Planning to the Claims Department and eventually to tire management. He completed the ECC Leadership course to strengthen his people management skills and also earned a certificate in load securing—a highly specialised qualification that grants important responsibilities. “I always say: if you don’t succeed at Ewals Cargo Care, it’s mostly on you. There’s so much possible here!”
Hectic
No two days are the same for Ron. “Yes, my job can be hectic—but I knew that going in, and I love it.” At ECC, we have our own dedicated trailer parking area with around 200 trailers, and Ron personally checks their tyres and conducts inspections. At any given time, there are 4,000 to 4,500 trailers on the road—from Turkey to Sweden and everywhere in between. If something happens with the tyres, service needs to be arranged. With workshops across Europe, Ron ensures all agreements are upheld. He travels abroad three to four times a year to oversee operations.
The team
“We have a team of ten great people. Getting the job done together is what matters most—and we learn a lot from each other.” You never walk in fully prepared. It takes time to learn how things work in practice. “You don’t learn everything at school, and we set the bar high. But we love working with curious, eager people.” New colleagues are surrounded by experienced team members. “You get the chance to learn, observe, and take action. We all want the same thing—and no one does it alone. That’s how we work.”
